Registration, conference fee (lunch, dinner, tea and snacks)  weekdays only : R4200 P/Participant
Accommodation:   Stellenbosch Lodge, Country Hotel & Conference Centre:      R550.00 P/P/P sharing breakfast included. 
Delegates who do not wish to make use of the above mentioned accommodation are advised that accommodation in Stellenbosch during January should be reserved early.  For more information see

Student Subsidy

A limited number of student subsidies are available for South African students in financial need.  In cases of merit and financial need NITheP will subsidise the accommodation of the student.  The student cost will then be R4 200 which includes all meals and refreshments.  The total number of subsidies will depend on available funds. No support is available for travel costs.  Students are responsible for their own travel arrangements.

Those students wishing to be considered for financial support must:

  • Complete and submit the online registration form by 30 October 2009
  • Ask their supervisor to send an e-mail letter before 13 November 2009 to moniquel@sun.ac.za with the following information:
     - Subject heading: Application for Subsidy – Name of student
     - Attest to the student’s academic standing and motivate the student’s
        participation in the School.
     - State what additional funds have been sourced and why the entire cost
        of the School cannot be covered by the supervisor and/or institution.

African Student subsidy

A very limited number of scholarships are available for African students and academics from outside South Africa.  The scholarships will be based on academic merit and financial need. The total number of scholarships will depend on available funds.

Those delegates wishing to be considered for financial support must:
  • Complete and submit the online registration form by 30 October 2009
  • Send an e-mail letter before 13 November 2009 to moniquel@sun.ac.za with the following information:

-Subject heading:  African Delegate Scholarship – Name of delegate
-Give details of your present appointment
-Motivate your participation in the School
-Indicate the extent to which you have received financial support to attend previous Chris Engelbrecht Summer Schools
-State what additional funds have been sourced and why the entire cost cannot be covered by our institution

  • Applicants will be informed by 20 November 2009 if they have been successful in their application for scholarship

Participants can pay by bank transfer upon receipt of an official invoice from the University of Stellenbosch. The invoice will state full bank details.
Please ensure that you add your REFERENCE NUMBER on the Bank Deposit Slip. A copy of the transfer instruction should be faxed to the secretariat at (+27-21-8083862).  Your booking will NOT be confirmed without you reference number and deposit slip.

Accommodation has been reserved at  Stellenbosch Lodge.  Transport will be provided for guests and students travelling from the Lodge to Wallenberg Research Centre at STIAS, i.e the venue of the school.
Since reserved accommodation is limited to 50 places (two per room), accommodation is made available on a first-come-first served basis.  The cost for the above accommodation is quoted per person sharing and is as follows:

Transport

Lecturers:  Transport between Cape Town International airport and the school venue will be organized for all lecturers at the beginning and end of the school.

Participants:  A shuttle transport service between Cape Town International airport and the school venue will be available for participants at the beginning and end of the school. Please provide us with your travel choice on the second part of the registration page.  Participants who would like to make use of this transport are expected to arrive in Cape Town on 17 January 2010 and depart on 27 January 2009.
